Porcelain Veneers

A beautiful smile lets others know that you’re approachable, and it can even make you look younger than your real age. Many of our patients ask us about doing Veneers or ask us how to enhance their smile. Dr. Miller offers several treatments that aims to create a beautiful smile to help you feel confident about what you see in the mirrors. Some choices that are available to enhance your smile  are two types of dental veneers: porcelain and composite.

Porcelain Veneers:

Extremely thin strips of porcelain that are secured to the outer-facing portion of your tooth. They are uniquely made to match the natural coloring of the surrounding teeth, concealing any imperfections and bringing back your fullest smile. The veneers are nearly impossible to detect and extremely simple to apply. Plus, they’re durable and resistant to staining, whether it’s from coffee, red wine or whatever else your teeth endure. Thanks to Lumineers’ unique, ultra-thin design and application method, little, if any, tooth modification is required. Removing this preparatory step means that you won’t need anesthetic, and Dr. Miller can get right to work improving your smile.  These long-lasting enhancements will rejuvenate your smile for up to 20 years!

Composite Veneers:

Engineered resin that is made to match the shade of your surrounding teeth. The benefits of composite veneers are they can be done chairside, so a same-day procedure, completely reversible and less costly than porcelain veneers. With proper care, they can last 4-8 years. Because resin is porous they are not stain resistant.

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory.  They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile.  They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.

As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and may someday need replacement.  They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.

Reasons for porcelain veneers:

  • Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
  • Crooked teeth.
  • Misshapen teeth.
  • Severely discolored or stained teeth.
  • Teeth that are too small
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces.
  • Worn or chipped teeth.

What does getting porcelain veneers involve?

During the first appointment, we discuss your smile goal. The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing  of the veneer.  A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and Dr. Miller. These impressions are sent to a dental lab offsite, which creates your permanent Lumineers veneers. During this period, you’ll be given temporary veneers so you don’t have to sacrifice your smile while you wait.

On the second visit the teeth will be cleansed with special liquids to achieve a durable bond to affix the remarkably thin yet durable porcelain shells directly to teeth for beautiful, instantaneous results. Unlike traditional veneers, Lumineers are reversible because original tooth enamel is not reduced during application. The smile of your dreams has never been this easy!

You will receive care instructions for veneers.  Proper brushing, flossing and regular
